Eaton Earns Second Straight Honor
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After breaking the school record and posting the nation’s fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles for the second consecutive week, senior Jarret Eaton of the men’s track field team has been named the BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Eaton’s time of 7.49 seconds last weekend at the Penn State National Invitational beat his previous mark of 7.61 seconds, which he set two weeks ago at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. The time earned him an automatic spot in the BIG EAST, IC4A and NCAA Indoor championships later this season.
The Abington, Pa. native currently holds the top-two times in the nation, and is .19 seconds ahead of Clemson’s Spencer Adams. Eaton was named the 2010 Northeast Region Men’s Athlete of the Year during his junior year, the season he first set the SU 60-meter hurdle record, before redshirting the 2010-11 indoor and outdoor seasons.
The Orange will travel to the Armory this weekend for the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, which begins on Friday afternoon.
