Goodnough And Scharfe Earn CHA Honors
Freshman defenseman Kaillie Goodnough and sophomore center Margot Scharfe have been named to the CHA Honor Roll for their performances against Niagara last weekend. Goodnough scored her fourth goal of the season on Saturday, while Scharfe had a three-point weekend.
Scharfe (Toronto, Ont.) had a team high three points (one goal, two assists) in a two-game set against Niagara last weekend. On Friday, she scored her ninth goal of the season with 3:53 left in the second period to cut the Purple Eagle lead to 2-1. She would provide the primary assist on Shiann Darkangelo’s go-ahead goal with 2:27 left in regulation with SU on the power play.
She also assisted on the Orange’s lone goal on Saturday against Niagara that tied the score at one and forced overtime. Margot leads the team with 19 points on nine goals and team-high 10 assists. She is tied for 98th in the nation with 0.73 points per game and tied for 78th with 0.35 goals per game. Her 19 points are tied for ninth in the conference, while her 10 assists are tied for 12th.
Goodnough had one goal last weekend against Niagara. On Saturday, she potted her fourth goal of the season with a slapshot from the blueline off a clean faceoff win by the Orange. Goodnough has four goals and five assists this season, which is second on the team among defensemen. She is tied for sixth in the conference in points and tied for first in the CHA in goals among blueliners.
The Orange closes the nonconference portion of its schedule this weekend as SU travels to Quinnipiac for a two-game set, beginning Friday night at 4:00 p.m.
